I'm Rana
Software Engineer turned Product Designer Bridging Design & Engineering.
WHO I AM
I'm a product designer with 3+ years turning complex systems into experiences people actually enjoy using. Currently creating design goodness at Husssl while exploring what's next in my career.
I started as a software engineer, which taught me to think in systems and speak the language of development teams. That background helps me design solutions that are both user-friendly and technically feasible.
Beyond client work, I volunteer as a designer for local organizations, mentor junior designers, and take on pro bono projects for founders building products that matter. I'm committed to using design as a tool for good, whether that's civic tech, education tools, or supporting communities that need design help but can't afford it.
HOW I WORK
I thrive in remote teams, collaborating fluently with business founders, developers, graphic designers, sales teams, and clients across time zones. My engineering background helps me speak everyone's language and bridge gaps between disciplines.
I love the freedom of working from anywhere. Whether I'm joining a morning standup from a café in the heart of Cairo, or presenting designs to stakeholders across continents, remote work has taught me to communicate clearly, document thoroughly, and build trust asynchronously.
My engineering background shapes everything I do. I think in systems, anticipate edge cases, and can have technical conversations that save time and headaches. I've learned that the best solutions come from understanding what's actually feasible, not fighting against constraints.
I start by understanding the problem deeply, sketch rough ideas, build quick prototypes, and test assumptions early. I'd rather validate direction fast than spend weeks polishing the wrong solution.
BEYOND DESIGN
When I'm not designing, you'll find me learning German (currently stumbling through A2), lifting at the gym, or adding another mechanical keyboard to my growing collection. I'm a bit of a tech nerd and love tinkering with new tools and setups.
I also read and write regularly. There's something grounding about putting thoughts on paper that balances out the screen time. I'm currently expanding my knowledge of no-code platforms and AI tools, exploring how they're changing the way we build and design.
